3rd Thursday Community Action Night: April 16th, 6:30-8pm
#

Federal Way Indivisible Community Action Night (FWI CAN!) is the 3rd Thursday of every month. This month, we’ll meet our neighbors and learn how to show city council WE are the majority in Federal Way. Then we’ll band together with our geographical neighbors, get our comments and sign ideas ready, practice, and make plans to show up for the 4/21 council meeting and the 4/30 town hall en masse!

If you can, please bring canned food items, diapers, formula, or hygiene items to donate to Wayside’s community pantry.

Kids welcome! (Coloring activities available, but please bring additional entertainment if your child needs it. No childcare will be provided.)

Last Month’s Highlights

Federal Way No Kings Was a HUGE Success!
#

Thanks to YOU, No Kings 3 saw over 1500 people in attendance and collected 682 lbs. of food for the food bank! It was a fun, peaceful, and powerful time of solidarity for people and pets of all ages. Check out this great write-up in the Mirror.

Despite Snow, FWI Open House Had Over 60 In Attendance
#

Snow may have caused power outages across Federal Way, but that didn’t stop our community from coming together to make protest signs, play games, and make connections that make our democracy stronger. Resistance starts with community. When we have each others’ backs, the fascists don’t stand a chance!

Protests and Other Actions
#

Sunday Corner Protest, Sundays, 12-1pm
#

Join Federal Way Indivisible in partnership with the Southend Friends for Peace and Justice every Sunday from noon-1pm, rain or shine. Bring your own sign or borrow one provided. We’re standing up for peace and democracy. All non-violent humans and their furry companions welcome!

May Day Strong: May 1, International Workers’ Day
#

No work. No school. No shopping. 5/1.

People around the country are taking action together to demand:

  • Tax the rich so our families, not their fortunes, come first
  • ICE out: no unchecked federal enforcement power in our communities
  • Expand democracy, not corporate control; defend free and fair elections

Check out the May Day Map for an event near you or join us in Tukwila at 9am as part of the Coalition to Block ICE Expansion. We’re protesting ICE HQ and Sabey Corporation, the local billionaire company planning to lease a new building to ICE to further empower its agenda of terror in our communities. Sabey has thus far ignored our demands to cancel ICE’s lease of Riverfront Technical Park in Tukwila, which will allow a huge influx of new ICE agents into our region to abduct our neighbors and terrorize families, communities, and schools.

Join us to demand Sabey immediately terminate this lease and stop enabling ICE expansion!

Federal Way Indivisible will be organizing a carpool to Tukwila on May Day. Email hello@fwindivisible if you want to join as a driver or a rider and get the details on our event page.

FWI Volunteer Opportunities

WAND Federal Way Volunteers Needed!
#

Washington Neighborhood Defense (WAND) Federal Way is teaching businesses about their rights regarding immigration. We have an audacious goal to canvas all businesses and we need volunteers. The more businesses, houses of worship, and other public spaces who know their rights, the safer everyone will be! Join us for a canvassing session to see what it’s about!

Leadership Opportunities
#

Are you a self-starter? Organized? Good communicator? Like working behind the scenes? Then we need you! Join FWI’s leadership team and help us coordinate our events and guide the direction of the group. [Email us for more info!](mailto:hello@fwindivisible.org?subject=Leadership Volunteer)
